Dark Angels
The First Legion - Guardians of Secrets
The Dark Angels are one of the oldest and most respected Space Marine chapters – in fact, the first legion created by the Emperor. Their Primarch, Lion El’Jonson, was a brilliant warlord, but the fate of his legion was intertwined with tragic events during the Horus Rebellion, leaving the Dark Angels shrouded in shadows and secrets.
The Chapter's sense of duty and discipline are legendary, but their shadow is cast by the eternal hunt for the Fallen, their fallen brothers. Few outsiders know of this secret crusade, and those who do... rarely live to tell the tale.
From a gaming perspective:
- Playstyle: A versatile Space Marine chapter with an emphasis on durability, specialized fire support, and elite units.
- Strengths: Excellent terminators (Deathwing), motorcycle troops (Ravenwing), and disciplined firepower.
- Challenges: Expensive special units at points, can be difficult to balance roster in big games
- Suitable for the player: Anyone who wants to play an iconic, story-rich chapter where secrets and special tactics are at the center.
Features on the table:
- Deathwing: White-armored Terminators who are the Chapter's iron strike force.
- Ravenwing: Black-clad motorcycle and landspeeder units that act as a fast strike force.
- Heroes like Azrael, Ezekiel, and Belial, as well as the returning Primarch Lion El'Jonson.
- Chapter Tactic: Grim Resolve - grants bonuses for standing still, which strengthens marksmanship and discipline.
Painting and collecting:
The Dark Angels are known for their deep green armor, white Deathwing, and black Ravenwing. Together, these form a visually rich and diverse ensemble. Symbolism, such as the winged sword, and a wealth of heraldic decoration make the units particularly striking.
