Maggotkin of Nurgle
Plaguebearers - unstoppable messengers of death and rot
The Maggotkin of Nurgle are the dedicated army of Nurgle, the plague god of Chaos, spreading disease, rot, and death wherever they go. They see themselves not as a curse, but as bearers of a “gift,” spreading the gifts of their father Nurgle throughout the Mortal Realms. Each warrior is filled with plague, boils, and foul gifts that make them nearly impossible to kill.
On the battlefield, Maggotkin armies advance slowly but surely, overwhelming the enemy with constant pressure. Their ability to weaken their opponents with disease while simultaneously healing their own ranks makes them a dangerous and exceptionally durable army.
From a gaming perspective:
- Playstyle: Slow but extremely durable. Crush the enemy with attrition warfare.
- Strengths: Exceptional durability, strong melee units, rule effects that weaken the enemy.
- Challenges: Slow movement can make it difficult to control the entire field.
- Suitable for the player: Anyone who wants to play with endurance, pressure, and disease over the enemy.
Features on the table:
- Cycle of Corruption brings turn-specific benefits that can change the course of the game.
- Iconic units like Putrid Blightkings, Pusgoyle Blightlords, and the Great Unclean One.
- The ability to create Contagion Points and summon additional units during battle.
- Heroes like Rotigus and Festus the Leechlord support the army with spells and diseases.
Painting and collecting:
Maggotkin of Nurgle offers the painter the opportunity to experiment with dirty, rotting, and diseased effects. Combining shades of green, brown, and flesh, painting rust and slime, and adding realistic details of disease and corruption, each figure looks alive (and unpleasant).
