Thousand Sons
Wizards in Armor - Guardians of the Secrets of Tzeentch
The Thousand Sons are a Chaos legion, fully devoted to Tzeentch, God of Change and Magic. They were once proud and learned Astartes warriors, but their obsession with psychic power led to a curse that turned most of them into empty suits of armor. Only a handful of true wizard generals now lead these magical armies.
Their ranks are largely made up of automated warriors, Rubric Marines, whose armor is imbued with eerie energy. The Thousand Sons rely on superior psychic abilities, curses, and magical firepower on the battlefield, making them an unpredictable and dangerous opponent.
From a gaming perspective:
- Playstyle: Psychic control and medium fire support that suppresses the enemy with spells and powerful weapons.
- Strengths: Very strong psychic units, durable infantry with invulnerable rules, special spells.
- Challenges: Low unit count and high point costs make every loss significant.
- Suitable for the player: Anyone who wants a tactical, magic-focused army and wants to dominate the field with complex, synergistic actions.
Features on the table:
- Exceptional psychic power - multiple spellcasters and unique Tzeentch spells.
- Rubric Marines: durable infantry with strong armor and the invulnerable rule.
- Special units like Scarab Occult Terminators and Maulerfiend combine firepower and close combat.
- Stratagems and spells allow for quick movement, debuffing enemies, and strengthening your own troops.
Painting and collecting:
Known for their dark blue and gold armor, adorned with Egyptian-inspired symbols and Tzeentch iconography, the Thousand Sons army is visually striking and offers plenty of room to experiment with brilliant color transitions, glowing effect paintings, and magical details.
